The LB Performance team unveiled their latest fascinating project, an Oakley
Design Ferrari 458 Italia fitted with a
new aerodynamic kit and candy red ADV.1 wheels.
With only seven units in existence, the Oakley Design 458 is already a rare and exclusive car. In its original state, it features a front splitter and a discreet rear spoiler, which adds a few dozen pounds of downforce at a higher speed. A new weight-saving and performance-enhancing exhaust system has also been installed. With an ECU remap optimizing the fuelling and ignition curves, these changes account for an approximate 10 percent power gain from 570 hp to 623 hp, while torque is up five percent to 423 lb-ft.
Carrying around 120 lb less and with more power on tap, the factory 3.3 second 0-60 mph time drops to 2.9 seconds, while top speed has been recorded at over 208 mph (335 km/h).
As reported by the crankandpiston.com website, the owner of this car didn't keep it in a "bubble", but enjoyed driving it exactly as the manufacturer intended: on the street and on the race tracks.
However, designers at Ferrari and Pininfarina will probably be less thrilled when they see what happened with their sports car at the Simon Motorsport workshop in Dubai. Their technicians, along with staff from Liberty Walk LB Performance (a Japanese tuning company), fitted a no-compromise Liberty Walk aerodynamic kit to the Oakley Design 458 Italia. The kit includes widened wheel arches and a massive carbon-fiber ducktail spoiler at the back, along with other aerodynamic and design enhancements.
Although the 458 by LB Performance sits quite close to the ground, it can negotiate most bumps thanks to the Novitec HLS Hydraulic Suspension providing a 40 mm lift on the front. Combined with the massive ADV.1 5.0 Track Spec 3SL three piece forged wheels - painted in custom candy red - and wrapped in Toyo Proxes, the 458 Italia by LB Performance certainly has one of the more spectacular exterior designs unveiled this year.
