Toyota has taken the wraps off the limited edition GT86 14R-60 which costs
three times more than the base car and is only available in Japan.
At 6,300,000 JPY ($58,000), the 100 examples will only attract die-hard fans, collectors and dealerships.
The GT86 14R-60 is inspired by the 86 Griffin concept and features exterior adorned with an aggressive bumper, side fins, redesigned side skirts, a sportier rear bumper with air diffuser and mid-mounted exhausts, a carbon fiber roof and shark fin antenna as well as a huge rear wing.
18-inch forged magnesium wheels finished in matte black complete the exterior changes.
Inside, the car has lightweight sport seats, carbon fiber trim, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, door sills with TRD logo, different floor mats and orange contrast stitching throughout.
Changes under the hood include an optimized air intake, a high-flow air filter, lightweight fly wheel, a high-performance clutch, a quick-throw shifter and an auxiliary oil cooler. All these enhancements actually don't improve the performance as the GT86 14R-60 is still officially rated at 197 hp / 151 lb-ft - same as a base GT86.
As a further testament to the Japanese thoroughness, the limited edition sports car is also equipped with a strut tower brace, a trunk-mounted V-brace, an adjustable suspension with revised bushings and with limited slip diff and more powerful brakes.
