The Toyota GT-86 TRD is a special edition model, featuring 18-inch TF6
wheels, deep front and side skirts, a rear bumper spoiler and a fast-response
quad-exhaust system with a rear diffuser.
The sports coupe was introduced in 2013 in the UK and continues unchanged for the model year 2014. Just 250 examples are available.
The GT-86 TRD is meant to create a new halo model for the 2+2 coupe range. Both six-speed manual and automatic versions are on offer, in a choice of two colors: Pearl White and GT-86 Black. On-the-road prices are 31,495 GBP for the manual and 32,995 GBP for the auto.
The focus is on sports styling, but not at the cost of GT-86's essential performance and handling character. In addition to the parts mentioned above, the special edition also features a branded radiator cap and fuel filler cover, while inside the car there is a new TRD gear shift lever.
These items are all in addition to GT-86's equipment specification in the UK, which includes HID headlamps, front fog lamps, limited slip differential, Smart Entry and Start, dual-zone climate control, analogue dials and meters, drilled aluminum pedals, sports seats, scuff plates, cruise control and the Toyota Touch multimedia system.
Acceleration and maximum speed are unchanged at 7.5 seconds for 0-60 mph and 140 mph for the manual and 8.1 seconds and 130 mph for the automatic.
The Toyota GT-86 is made on the same platform as the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S.
