The low-volume British carmaker has unleashed an even more extreme version of
its road-legal track car.
Like a standard Atom, the Atom 3.5R is powered by a supercharged inline-four
engine from the Honda Civic Type-R, but in this instance it produces 350 hp and
243 lb-ft of torque.
Coupled with the car's weight (1,212 lb), the 3.5R is able to complete the
sprint to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and to 100 just 3.5 seconds afterwards.
This increased engine performance is also met by an improved suspension. The
lightweight 3.5R features bespoke Ohlins TTX36 dampers that can be optimized
with springs for road, track or race use.
In the UK, the Atom 3.5R will be sold for 64,800 British pounds (around
$107,000). A version with similar performance will reportedly be available in
the U.S. later this year.
