German tuner AC Schnitzer was tasked with developing a customized BMW X4 for
the German police force, as part of the annual TUNE IT! SAFE! initiative.
The vehicle is currently on display at the Essen Motor Show.
The German specialists have bumped the output of the BMW X4 20i's 2.0-liter turbo engine from 182 hp to 242 hp. Thanks to this, it now accelerates to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.5 seconds while the 50-112 mph (80-180 km/h) sprint is done in 17.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 132 mph (212 km/h).
Besides the performance increase, the new police vehicle also features an aerodynamic kit. AC Schnitzer front spoiler elements, rear diffuser and AC Schnitzer carbon mirror covers make the police BMW X4 20i Polizei by AC Schnitzer a worthy opponent on hot pursuits, especially due to its suspension spring kit which lowers the car by around 30 mm (front) and 25 mm (rear).
The sonorous note comes courtesy of the AC Schnitzer silencer with two chromed tailpipe trims each side in right/left combination, perfectly integrated into the rear diffuser. But to warn other road users even more clearly of the approaching police vehicle, there are the special police "RTK 7" signaling system and flashing lights from Hella. The latter are in AC Schnitzer design, the style of which continues into the interior: aluminum pedal set, aluminum foot rest, keyholder and velour floor mats make the X4 into a stylish utility vehicle.
AC Schnitzer Type V forged alloys in Anthracite, in conjunction with corresponding Ventus S1evo tires in 265/30 R 22 from Hankook, keep the police BMW X4 20i Polizei by AC Schnitzer safely on the road.
