Shelby American has unleashed an engine upgrade for the
2016 Mustang GT that will raise its output to
up to 750 horsepower.
The limited-edition series cars - dubbed "Super Snake" - will also feature a carbon fiber body kit that includes a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber mirror caps and a carbon fiber rear fascia. Other additions include a black anodized grille, racing stripes, a rear spoiler and 20-inch WELD Racing wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
Inside, the Super Snake will be fitted with a short-throw shifter, a three-gauge dash pod and embroidered headrests.
Engine upgrades start with a 650-hp version that includes a Ford Performance supercharger and can be connected to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
For the most demanding customers, Shelby American offers a 750-horsepower version with an upgraded cooling system, a one-piece driveshaft and Wilwood rear brakes. The supercharger for this version was sourced from Kenne Bell or Whipple.
Production will be limited to 300 units this year and pricing starts at $82,125 (including the cost of the base Mustang GT).
