A brand new
800-horsepower Mercedes SL65 by Brabus was spotted on JamesEdition.com. It
comes with a price tag of 415,000 euros, which is $508,000 at today's rates.
The '800 Roadster' is Brabus' current flagship supercar. Based on the already mighty Mercedes SL65 AMG, it boasts a ridiculous 789 hp and 1,100 lb-ft of torque. These figures make it the most powerful production convertible in the world and result in a top speed that is limited to 217 mph. New carbon-fiber bodywork reflects the muscularity of the engine and larger wheels complete the design package.
Despite the matte grey wings and vents, this is still very much a 'numbers' car, with headline power figures dominating the impression you take away. It would be great to meet the man at Brabus who, after driving the SL65, said to himself: "Hmm, very nice, but it needs more power". He deserves a pat on the back, because it is creations like this that keep the car world both interesting and totally unpredictable; I'm sure it also keeps the 'Black Series' department on their toes.
At its price, its safe to assume that production numbers will be much more exclusive than any AMG product and if you're lucky enough to spot one, I'm sure you'll have very little time to take it all in.
