Lamborghini Aventador SV has managed to set a spectacular 6m59.73s lap time on the
Nurburgring Nordschleife and has a video to prove it.
The time was set during tire development runs with Pirelli, with a car running on street-legal P Zero Corsa tires while the identity of the driver has not been disclosed.
6m59.73s is just two seconds off the lap time set by Porsche 918 Spyder and means that Lamborghini has now officially joined the exclusive sub-7 minute club.
The Aventador SV is not just another Aventador with a more aggressive body kit. It features a redesigned 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine with 740 hp and 508 lb-ft of torque and an about 120 lb (50 kg) lower kerb weight. These improvements have lowered the sprint time to 60 mph to 2.7 seconds while top speed stands at more than 217 mph (350 km/h).
The performance of the Aventador SV will not be enjoyed by many. Only 600 units will be made at a price of $493,069. In Europe, the prices start at 327,190 euros.
