The rumors are intensifying that Ford will return to Le Mans racing with an all-new GT-derived racing car.
But even if Ford doesn't return, the producers behind the video above thought it's worth to commemorate the GT40's historic achievements at the French track. Shot at Miller Motorsports Park, the crew used a Gulf-liveried GT40 while text and archival interviews tell Ford's story.
This particular GT40 started its life as a GT40-based Mirage in 1967, when it was bought by the legendary Steve McQueen. After it was fully converted to the GT40, it was used as a camera car in Le Mans.
